Geography

Berkley is located in Southeast Michigan, a suburb of Detroit. The city of has a land area of 2.6 square miles and an elevation of 660 feet. Berkley was first established as a village in 1923 and then incorporated as a city in 1932
 

 

 

 
Downtown

The downtown area stretches along 12 Mile Road between Greenfield Road and Coolidge Highway, and along Coolidge Highway between 12 Mile Road and 11 Mile Road. Downtown is pedestrian-friendly, revitalized in 2002 with bricked crosswalks, newly constructed sidewalks, trees and benches. Berkley's east border is formed by Woodward Avenue and the city participants in the annual Woodward Dream Cruise.

Our school district's mission is to guide, encourage and support each and every learner. Berkley is served by four elementary schools (Rogers, Burton, Pattengill, and Angell), two middle schools (Anderson and Norup) and one high school.
